Lexington Expansion

In March 2023, Siemens announced a $220 million investment in a new East Coast rail manufacturing hub located in Lexington, North Carolina. Siemens will be creating 500 new jobs at the plant through 2028. The new plant broke ground in August 2023 and is expected to begin production in mid 2025. It will manufacture Venture coaches, some of the most innovative passenger coaches on the U.S. market, as well as coach and locomotive overhauls for the first time. In addition, the facility will have the capability to produce alternative propulsion vehicles, including hydrogen and battery-operated, in the future. The addition of this hub on the East Coast will establish a bicoastal, “Made in America” rail manufacturing footprint for Siemens, working side-by-side with its long-established Sacramento, CA manufacturing-hub.

Wendell

Spanning 272,000 square feet, this facility has been a cornerstone of Siemens' operations since the early 1980s and serves as the US headquarters for Siemens' Electrification and Automation (EA) business. The facility produces state-of-the-art medium-voltage switchgear and circuit breakers, low-voltage motor control centers and switchboards, as well as replacement circuit breakers for switchgear modernization.

Through Siemens' Manufacturing Extension Partnership program, we collaborate closely with local educational institutions, including North Carolina State University and Wake Tech Community College, to develop training and technical apprenticeship programs. The hub's newly established customer experience and conference center foster collaboration and innovation amongst employees, customers and the local community.

Charlotte - CATCH

Siemens opened the Charlotte Advanced Technology Collaboration Hub (CATCH) which brings together Siemens Digital Industries, Siemens Technology and Siemens Energy entities to lead strategic new research and development in Additive Manufacturing (AM).

Research conducted here will help customers accelerate the industrialization of AM by collaborating with key machine builders (OEMs), end-users and national laboratories. The lab sits within the Siemens Energy gas turbine manufacturing facility.
